A Turkish man identified as Veysi Demir is standing trial over his alleged links to Turkey’s Gülen group, which is accused of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016.
The group denies any involvement.
According to a twitter account managed by Demir’s family members, Demir has been bedridden since he suffered from gastric bleeding in early February 2019. He was initially detained on February 11, 2019 in Mardin, Turkey. After a brief custody, he was transfered to a state hospital due to his deteriorating health condition.
On March 6, he was discharged from the hospital by police force, and taken to Şanlıurfa courthouse to stand trial for his alleged links to the Gülen group.
