Detention warrants issued for 52 including doctors, engineers, teachers, pharmacists

Detention warrants were issued for 52 people including doctors, engineers, pharmacists, teachers and police officers on Monday.

The suspects are accused of having used ByLock, an encrypted mobile messaging app that Turkish prosecutors claim to be the top communication tool the followers of the Gulen movement.

State-run Anadolu news agency said some of the suspects had been employed at public institutions before they were dismissed over Gulen links.

Police carried out operations in 25 provinces and detained 16 of the suspects at the time of this writing.

Turkish government blames Gulenists for the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the group denies involvement.

More than 150,000 people have passed through police custody, of which 80,000 were remanded in prison since the summer of 2016.
