Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli called for an amnesty on Saturday to notorious gang leaders Alaattin Çakıcı and Kürşat Yılmaz, who are convicted for several crimes.
MHP leader tweeted about a general amnesty plan by excluding, “child abusers, rapists, women murderers, Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants and Gülen-linked prisoners.”
Bahçeli has formed an alliance with ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on the way to snap elections on June 24, for which his remarks over the need for an early voting started the discussion.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor Yiğit Bulut also mentioned a general amnesty for certain crimes on May 3. “While we are entering a new decade, let us start a PAX Presidenta dynamic and make this peace reasonable,” wrote on his column in pro-government Star daily.
According to Republican’s People Party (CHP) deputy Barış Yarkadaş, who tweeted on Saturday about the issue, these statements are signs of a plan, which was already prepared by Erdoğan’s orders and including 100,000 inmates.
