Three people were detained as part of an investigation into the Gulen movement in Turkey’s central Anatolian province of Konya early Sunday.
Arrest warrants were issued against several people who are believed to be hiding from the police due to their affiliation to Gulen movement in Konya’s Selcuk district.
On Sunday, police raided an apartment building where they had located 2 suspects implicated in the investigation. A former military officer, identified as K.S., who was acquitted of coup charges in his own investigation just 10 days ago, was found at the apartment and he was detained as well.
Turkish government accuses Gulen movement for the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement. More than 160,000 people have been detained and 90,000 have been put in pre-trial detention over Gulen links since the summer of 2016.
Thousands of others have been reportedly hiding to escape what many now call the government’s post-coup witch-hunt.
