Former footballer Ismail Demiriz gets 6 years in jail over post-coup terror charges

Former Galatasaray player Ismail Demiriz was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in jail on accusation of membership to the Gulen movement.

Demiriz was first given 7.5 years in jail, the court in charge reduced his sentence to 6 years and 3 months due to Demiriz’s good conduct during hearings.

Turkish government accuses Gulen group of masterminding the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement.
