Mustafa Aygün, a former police chief with the Eskisehir Police Department was sentenced to 105 years in total on several charges, Anadolu news agency reported Wednesday.
Aygun was a deputy police chief responsible for intelligence desk in Eskisehir.
Arrested in Ankara in June, 2018, the former officer was convicted of “membership to the Gulen movement”, “violation of confidentiality of communication,” “recording of confidential communication,” and “illegally storing personal information.”
Turkish government accuses Gulen movement followers of masterminding the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement. More than 511,000 people were detained over Gulen links so far.
