Turkey’s economic growth for 2018 fell far below the government forecast, hitting 2.55 percent for full-year growth, according to a Reuters poll conducted with 19 economists.
In September 2018, Berat Albayrak, Treasury and Finance Minister, announced in his address during the presentation of the New Economic Program (NEP), that the government predicted a 3.8 percent growth in 2018. The NEP’s growth forecast for 2019 is 2.3 percent.
According to the Reuters survey that was conducted in January 2019, involving 51 companies, expectations for growth in 2019 fell from 1.1 percent to 0.2 percent since the last poll.
Economists expect that only the slowdown in the EU will yield a 0.5 percent decrease in economic growth in 2019.
Turkish Statistical Institute will deliver the statistics about Turkey’s economic growth for 2018 on March 11, 2019.
