A total of 42 people were detained as part of an investigation into the Gulen movement followers in Izmir, media reported Tuesday.
The suspects are accused of attempting to form new gatherings among Gulenists after the government cracked down on the followers in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 failed coup.
Turkish government accuses Gulenists of masterminding the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the group denies involvement. Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said Monday that at least 510,000 people have been detained over Gulen links since the summer of 2016.
