
Former Ankara mayor Melih Gokcek from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has been cited in a 70 million lira corruption claim by executives of a municipality-affiliated company.
The company was appointed by new Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) mayor Mansur Yavas from the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).
Its executives have filed a criminal complaint which allegedly happened during the tenure of former Ankara mayor from the ruling party, Diken news portal reported on Wednesday.
Osman Kacmaz and Dogan Yilmazkaya the new executives of Segmen Water filed the complaint to prosecutors, blaming Gokcek.
The corruption case was made public by Columnist Saygi Ozturk from daily Sozcu, a newspaper critical of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Ozturk Segmen’s former administrators had paid 5,750,000 Turkish liras (around 910,000 Euro) to AFM Technology, an awarded company to establish a water plant, in advance even before defining the location of the plant.
Furthermore Segmen’s managers did not sue the AFM, though it did not complete the project.
