A car bomb explosion struck the Kurdish-controlled city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, killing a security officer and wounding two others, Reuters reported on Sunday.
The bomb killed six Kurdish militants, according to Islamic State (ISIS) which claimed responsibility for the attack.
The bomb attack caused human losses according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitor that reports on the war using a network of sources on the ground.
The bomb-laden car reportedly targeted a high school in the Arbawiyeh neighborhood that was under the protection of the Asayish, the internal security force for northern and eastern Syria.
Located near the Turkish border, the city is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that have been fighting against the ISIS alongside the international coalition led by the United States (US).
Sunday’s car bomb attack came after three explosions that rocked the city last month with the ISIS which has lost key areas to the Kurdish forces claiming responsibility as well.
In June, an explosion had also targeted the main headquarters of the internal security forces near the city center, known as Sony, injuring two.
The US-backed Kurdish rule in northeastern Syria has also been confronted with the Russian-backed Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad which vows to take all areas back, either by force or negotiations.
The Kurdish administration has recently been faced with protests staged against it as the living conditions in eastern Syria are getting tough there, according to the Syrian pro-government activists.
