Turkish police detained a senior member of the Islamic State, the country’s interior minister announced on Tuesday.
“Daesh’s so-called emir of Turkey was captured with important plans and taken into custody,” Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Twitter.
Soylu named the detainee as Mahmut Ozden and gave no further details.
The IS targeted Turkey with at least ten suicide bombings, seven bombings, and four armed assaults, which killed 315 people and injured hundreds of others.
