A purge-victim Turkish man who had spent some 4 years behind bars over coup charges, was killed in a car accident in Muğla province on Monday, Journalist Sevinç Özarslan reported.
According to the report, the man, named Ali Güler, was fired from his job with a gov’t decree issued in the aftermath of a coup attempt in 2016. He was accused by the Turkish government of having links to the Gulen group, accused of masterminding the failed coup. The group denies any involvement.
He was sentenced to 7 years in prison over similar charges and had spent some 4 years and 6 months in prison.
