Prime Minister Theresa May’s government of the United Kingdom tackled a no-confidence vote by 325 lawmakers voting against the motion.
In the wake of the lawmakers’ rejection of May’s Brexit deal by 432-232 on Tuesday – the worst defeat for a British government in a century- the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn announced a no-confidence motion against May’s government.
No-confidence motion took place at 19:00 GMT on Wednesday in the House of Commons and the end of the twenty-minute voting process saw the continuance of the Conservative Party.
Theresa May took the floor and vowed to get on with delivering Brexit further.
“We must find solutions that are negotiable and command sufficient support in this house,” May said.
Jeremy Corbyn, on the other hand, asserted that May’s government should get a no-deal Brexit off the table to prevent the chaos that might arise from an abrupt divorce with EU.
“Before there can be any positive discussions about the way forward, the government must remove clearly, once and for all, the prospect of the catastrophe of a no-deal Brexit and all the chaos that would come as a result from that,” Corbyn said.
