Salihe Aydeniz, a deputy from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), bit a female police officer’s arm on Wednesday during a protest in the eastern province of Van.
The police officer received a medical report stating that she would not be able to work for 10 days after the incident. She had tried to remove a banner that Aydeniz was holding during the sit-down protest being staged by HDP supporters, the Demirören news agency (DHA) reported.
The rally and sit-down protest were organized in support of HDP deputy Leyla Güven, who has been on a hunger strike for 98 days.
