Security forces raided a school, allegedly affiliated with the Gulen movement, in Jalalabad city, capital of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province, on March 28, media reported.
Security forces in armed vehicles broke into the front yard of a high school at around 6 in the morning and reportedly detained several teachers. Local media stated that the school was raided in a bid to hand over its administration to Turkey’s Education Foundation.
Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency said Turkish government, on Feb 26, 2018, signed an agreement with Afghanistan to take over all Gulen school in the country.
Turkey accuses the Gülen movement of masterminding a failed coup attempt in Turkey on July 15, 2016 while the group denies involvement.
More than 511,000 people were detained over Gulen links within Turkey and more than 76 Gulen affiliated schools abroad were seized so far.
