A Turkish prosecutor is seeking life in prison for Ziya Ataman, a Kurdish journalist who has been held in pre-trial detention for over three years in Turkey.
According to prominent journalist Can Dundar, Ataman is as inflammatory bowel disease patient and he is scheduled to sand a trial on September 26.
Journalist Ataman was arrested by a Turkish court on April 11, 2016 over “membership in an armed terrorist organization.” He was a reporter for now-closed DİHA news agency.
