Turkey has replaced eight mayors from the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) with pro-Erdogan trustees as part of a widening crackdown on elected officials from the party.
Ankara accuses the mayors of having links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). The HDP denies any links to the PKK
The mayors of Batman, Ergani, Eğil, Lice, Silvan, Güroymak, Halfeli and Gökçedağ cities dismissed from their jobs, the interior ministry announced.
