A group of Turkish soldiers were caught on camera raiding a Kurdish-majority neighborhood in southeastern Van province in an attempt to arrest a suspect.
According to the video recorded by a local civilian, at least 12 soldiers are seen firing random bullets into the air and attaching women who attempt to resist the raid.
The suspect is reportedly sought by the Turkish authorities over alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The PKK has been leading an armed insurgency against Turkey’s security forces since the ’80s in a campaign that has claimed the lives of some 40,000 people. The group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the US.
