Suleyman Uzel, a 59-year-old businessman from Turkey’s western province of Denizli was arrested for insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Media reported Monday that Uzel was indicted with insulting Erdogan, a charge that carries a sentence of between one and four years.
The number of investigations launched on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was 20,539 in 2017, Bilgi University Professor Yaman Akdeniz told media earlier. 6,033 of such investigations made it to the courts last year, Akdeniz added.
