The Turkish government has investigated 624 social media accounts and taken legal action against 306 users over the last week (June 4-June 11), the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday.
A statement published on the ministry’s official website on Monday announced that 306 social media users were prosecuted by the Turkish government.
The statement also said that a total of 69 “terrorists” were “neutralized” during counter-terrorism operations across Turkey over the past week. According to the statement, Turkish Armed Forces carried out 1,683 counter-terrorism operations with the assistance of land and air forces.
The ministry said 40 of the “terrorists” were killed, 17 others were captured, and 12 surrendered to authorities. During the operations, 234 people were detained for allegedly aiding and abetting the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
