Mehmet Sevinç, 63-year-old political prisoner who has been in prison for over 28 years, died of cerebral hemorrhage on April 3, the Turkish media reported.
According to the Duvar news portal, Sevinç was denied funeral services by the Turkish authorities. The Kurdish man was reportedly jailed in 1997 over alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Turkey classifies as a “terrorist organization.”
His daughter claimed that the prison management forcefully held him in solitary confinement form months, which eventually led to his death in prison.
