Mustafa Enis Durak, a former military cadet who was fired from the Turkish military after the 2016 coup attempt, was sent to prison for the third time in six months on “terror, coup” charges.
According to Journalist Sevinç Özarslan, Durak is third-year med student at Mugla Sitki Kocman university.
This picture was taken minutes before the court ruled for his arrest. He was 17 years old on the night of the coup attempt in 2016.
So far, a total of 259 military cadets have been given lengthy prison sentences on charges of attempting to overturn the constitutional order and attempting to overthrow the Turkish government and parliament by use of force as well as membership in a terrorist organization.
The cadets say they had no information about a coup attempt unfolding and were acting on orders from their superiors, who told them there was a terrorist attack.
