Ramazan Turan, 70, has been found dead in his cell in Turkey’s Van High Security prison weeks after his arrest, the Yeni Yaşam news portal reported on January 22.
According to the report, early in January, Turan was sentenced to 6 years 3 months in prison over links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
He was sent to prison on December 31, 2021 and had been staying in solitary confinement since.
It was later reported that Turan was denied funeral services by the Turkish authorities, and his family therefore had to build a coffin through their own means.
