An İzmir court has ruled to imprison a 72-year-old Turkish man and four women over alleged links to the Gulen group, which the government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016. The group denies any involvement.
According to Turkish journalist Sevinç Özarslan, the purge-victim women and man are accused of having membership in a “terrorist organization.”
” 4 women and a 72-year old men who were detained earlier today, have just been sent to Şakran prison (in İzmir). Kids are saying goodbye to their mothers. The health condition of the elderly man is also a matter of question,” Özarslan tweeted.
