Mehmet Canbolat, an imprisoned Turkish lawyer who is eligible for parole, has been denied release from the Adıyaman State prison.
According to the Twitter account managed by family members of the purge-victim laywer, Canbolat has recently became eligible for conditional release; he however is still in solitary confinement.
“Lawyer Mehmet Canbolat who has been in prison for seven years, needs to released on probation. Instead, he has been held in solitary confinement for three years,” the Twitter account said.
The jailed man was has been sentenced to 12 years in prison over alleged links to the Gülen group, which the Turkish government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt on July 15, 2016. The group denies any involvement.
