Mansur Çalar, a player for Turkey’s pro-Kurdish Amedspor, has beengiven a lifetime ban from football by the Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK), the Turkish media reported.
According to the Turkish media, the 33-year-old Kurdish midfielder allegedly pulled out a sharp object ahead of kick-off between Amedspor-Sakaryaspor last weekend.
Ömer Faruk Gergerlioglu, a rights activist and a lawmaker from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), condemned the decision with a tweet in which he said “PFDK revealed its unfairness”.
Sakaryaspor claim that several of its players were hospitalized with injuries following the game. Pro-government ATV news channel purported that the sharp object used by Calar was a razor blade. Amedspor denies the allegations.
Tamamen yanlı ve haksız bir karar!
