With a new government decree issued on Monday, a total of 80 teachers from the Ministry of Education has been fired from their jobs over alleged links to the Gulen group, accused of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016.
The group denies any involvement.
According to the official statement by the ministry, the purge-victim teachers are accused of membership in the group.
With the latest purge, the total number of educators who lost their jobs after the 2016 failed coup has reached 34,468.
80 ÖĞRETMEN İHRAÇ EDİLDİ
Milli Eğitim Bakanı Mahmut Özer'in imzasıyla bugün 80 öğretmen işten atıldı. Öğretmenler hakkındaki 200 sayfalık rapor, 5 gün önce hazırlandı. İmzalarıyla insanların hayatlarıyla oynuyorlar. Haksızlık yapan, damgalayan aynı akıbetten kurtulamaz. pic.twitter.com/z8kZEWEXbi
