Necdet Erik, a Kurdish man who has both hands amputated at the wrist after being electrocuted by a high voltage line in Şanlıurfa, sent to prison as part of an investigation into a brawl that led to the death of his neighbor some seven months ago.
According to Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, a lawmaker from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Erik was sent to İzmir Menemen R type prison on July 8.
“The ruling that sent him to prison is unbelievable. It is hard to understand the reasoning behind this,” Gergerlioğlu said.
Erik is accused of being responsible for the death of his neighbor in his hometown of Siverek.
